Downton Abbey Collection Comes To Piper Classics

My husband and I love period pieces (movies - tv) especially if it's British. So Downton Abbey fits quite nicely for us. Another draw for us was the show was created by Julian Fellows who was a favorite of ours when he was in "Monarch Of The Glen".

For anyone not familiar with this wonderful series it's  set on the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey and depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the post-Edwardian era with the great events in history having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy.

Maggie Smith - Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham

There are so many talented actors and actress on this show not to mention the intriguing characters they play it's hard to say who might be your favorite. However, there is one actress who without a doubt is our favorite and that would be "Maggie Smith". The variety of roles Maggie Smith has played range from a teacher in "The Prime of Miss Jean Brody" - a Reverend Mother in both "Sister Act" movies - a professor in several of the "Harry Potter" movies. For a long time my favorite was her role as Caro Eliza Bennett in "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood", that is until I watched her in Downton Abbey playing "The Dowager Countess of Grantham".

Now I could write all day (well not all day) about this terrific show but the main reason for this post was to let you know about an e-mail I received recently from one of my very favorite on-line websites. Piper Classics has just released a collection of items for the home based on Downton Abbey.
