Time For Gathering & Giving Thanks Has Come Around Once More

Another year has almost come to a close but before that officially happens two very important family events must occur. As it's November 17th I think you can guess which holiday this post is about, only eleven more days until Thanksgiving.

Now everyone has their own favorite traditions so rather than write about table settings and food recipes, I thought I'd share some beautiful pictures to maybe help get your creative juices running and your mouth watering.

I love the look of wheat, it's the perfect addition to fall decorating but it looks great anytime of year. The table pictured above has a very simple centerpiece (I love the glass jars filled with wheat) that would work for either a formal sit down dinner or a buffet.

This is another example of a centerpiece that's simple but elegant looking. Pomegranates are a fall fruit so they are perfect for this display. You could use faux fruit (found at craft stores or floral supplies) or the real thing, displaying them in simple white vases along with white dinnerware allows the fruit to bring the color to the table (before the food).

I love everything about the above setting, from the embroidered linen tablecloth to the brick fireplace. Just looking at it give you a warm, cozy and comfortable feeling just what a gathering of family and friends should be.

Candlelight and dinning just go together so well and the beautiful centerpiece above says it all.

When you decide to serve buffet style you need as much room as possible for your food but some type of centerpiece is important. The above picture is a great idea, a simple glass vase with berry stems along with the candle tapers adds just enough punch without taking up too much room.

This is another dining room that I absolutely love, the colors alone are beautiful. Add to that the simple place settings, white pumpkins plus white pillar candles used as a centerpiece and you've got the makings for a beautiful dinner presentation.

Individual place settings are where you can get creative and really have some fun. There are so many possibilities - wrapping silverware in a colorful napkins tied with a simple ribbon or heavy twine, adding mini pinecones, acorns or wheat stocks - using fruit like in the photo above or mini pumpkins with or without a name tag tied to the stem.

Of course I can't end without a photo of the main attraction on our Thanksgiving dinner tables, the roast turkey and all the fixings. We will be celebrating our holiday this year at our oldest daughter and son-in-laws new home, something we are all very excited about and looking forward to.

What ever your traditions maybe, enjoy the food, enjoy the day but most of all enjoy the people you are surrounded by.
