Decorating With Pumpkins - Houzz Ideasbook |
Fall / Pumpkins don't those two words just seem to go together? Pumpkins are a must for decorating both inside and outside during the fall season. With the various shapes and sizes available there are lots of ways to use pumpkins in your fall decorating. Did you know there are also other colors besides orange to choose from?
I'm going to start with the white pumpkins which have become my new favorite. The picture above has got to be my absolute favorite on using white pumpkins for fall decorating. I found this photo along time ago on Pinterest and have used it as an inspiration. I love primitive decor and fall is without a doubt my favorite season so this picture just sums up for me the look I want for our home.
White pumpkins (commonly known as Lumina) have become quite popular, especially for Fall Weddings. They have a classy elegant feel and are something different from the normal orange pumpkins most associated with Fall Decor.
The centerpiece idea above - again found poking around Pinterest - has a soft, wispy feel to it almost fairy tale, which of course is what every Bride feels her wedding should be. The green Hydrangea flowers could be swapped out for a color that matches the wedding theme and it doesn't have to be that particular flower.
This arrangement shows exactly what I mentioned above, if you like the idea of using white pumpkins but have a more traditional fall color scheme for you wedding this is the perfect solution. It's the best of both worlds, the Cinderella feel of the white pumpkin mixed with the traditional colors of fall. I really like the orange colored votive candle holders with white votive candles used here, another simple touch that brings the elegance to the table.
The use of white pumpkins above has a monochromatic feel to it and really could be used in any home no matter what your particular style of decorating is. This setting give the feeling of elegance with a formal feel. You'll also notice how the pumpkins, muted Hydrangeas in the white vase along with the white platters showcased against the soft grey color of the hutch just seem to re-enforce the formal feel.
The above setting is again using white pumpkins and to me feels just as elegant but a little less formal, more casual. The orange colored table runner, napkins and the bittersweet berries wound around the pumpkins and filling the votive holders really plays off the white of the pumpkins.
Another pumpkin I've started using more of are the blue-green colored ones (Jaradale) whether used alone or mixed with other colors - white, tan or green - they make a bold statement. The picture above is a great example, the combination of colors along with the leaves, wheat and grapevine have a natural feel. Now if you don't have the room for something this large, pare it down to what ever size arrangement fits your space.
You can't get much simpler than this, a single blue pumpkin on a white pedestal dish. When mixed with the mirror, glass vase and single leaf branch a more contemporary feel comes to the room.
An eclectic centerpiece like the one above is another way of using a variety of fall items - various colors of pumpkins, gourds, squash, corn husks - then mixed with items you might collect - rolling pins, small wooden cutting boards - will give your table, hutch or shelf a unique and personal fall touch.
Whether you decorate strictly outside or inside or a combination of both don't forget pumpkins are more than Jack-o-Lanterns. Try mixing in some of the other colors, you just might discover a new trend in your Fall Decorating this year.
